Dog-friendly harness that does not restrict natural movement
Mi2 Harness is a soft harness designed for dogs of all sizes. It is designed with a focus on the natural movement of the dog and therefore allows sufficient extension of the shoulder joint. Wide selection of harness sizes and 5-point adjustment ensure that it fits your dog's body nicely.
Quality materials, carefully planned design, and double closure on top allow for comfortable and quick fitting without touching the paws, which is especially important for dogs with pain or dogs that do not allow touching of the paws due to bad past experiences.
Instructions for ordering and measuring the dog:
Measure the dog in three places indicated below, H2, P1, and O1, and send the measurements in the order note.
O1 = widest part of the chest (3-4 fingers behind the paws/armpits of the dog)
H1 = from the withers of the dog (between the shoulder blades) to the widest part (O1)
P1 = from the breastbone (first dent under the neck) to O1.
Why Mi2 harnesses?
Mi2 harnesses are comfortable for the dog and are not detrimental to their health or psychology. They allow unrestricted movement and communication with other dogs. The straps are made of nylon, which has many advantages such as high mechanical resistance to abrasion, lightness, and softness to touch. The material does not chafe or cut either the dog or the handler's hand. It is characterized by easy cleaning (machine washable, does not shrink, dries quickly, and does not require ironing), resistant to moths, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic.
All straps are nicely finished and hemmed outward so that the endings and seams do not irritate or pinch the dog. The clips are made of very durable plastic, which withstands up to -20 degrees Celsius, opens and closes nicely, and has no sharp edges.
At Mi2 dog school, they recommend and use H-type harnesses (an 'H' is visible on the back and a 'Y' on the chest) for several reasons:
- Psychologically, a dog, like any other creature, feels better when it is not choked and dragged around by the neck. In very serious situations, dogs punish each other with a bite to the loose skin on the upper part of the neck, while a bite to the lower part aims to kill the opponent. Therefore, a dog's neck is very sensitive to any touch, especially to pressure and tightening, which constantly occurs with collars and choke collars (not to mention other devices such as head halters, electric collars, collars that spray liquids at the dog, etc.),
- From a health perspective, the neck is also very sensitive. The outer part is covered by skin that is protected from external factors by fur, which, however, cannot prevent injuries caused by the aforementioned devices.
possible injuries from collar use include:
- Tracheal damage and breathing issues (beware of breeds with pushed-in snouts!!),
- Damage to the esophagus and hyoid (difficulty and pain while swallowing),
- Lymph node damage (thymus, whose damage is critical in puppies and young dogs!!),
- Damage to the thyroid gland, veins, and associated eye pressure (beware of breeds with pushed-in snouts and bulging eyes!!), disrupted blood flow in and out of the brain,
- Muscle tightness (damage to these affects the movement of the entire body),
- Vertebrae and intervertebral disc injuries (spinal osteoarthritis and herniated discs), nerve pinching in the cervical spine, and more.
Swedish research has shown that 63% of dogs have back issues, of which 91% frequently pull on collars or are often pulled by their owners by the collar.
Leash pulling is not only unpleasant due to stress, irritation, and negative associations with the environment but can also lead to serious behavioral and other irreversible health problems.
What is a good harness?
- Has a Y-shape at the front, with the center positioned not on the soft part of the neck but on the beginning of the breastbone.
- Does not obstruct the shoulders, thus allowing the legs to move freely.
- Does not restrict the neck and remains entirely on the chest.
- Does not chafe the dog under the armpits.
So, thoughts like "my dog doesn't pull on the leash" should not justify using inappropriate equipment, as sometimes a single pull can cause injury. We believe that every dog deserves only the best, and we also believe that we all love our dogs. Remember, love never pulls you by the neck.
